Icon in systray doesn't show new arrivals

Binary package hint: kmail

In more than 75 % of the cases the kmail icon in systray doesn't show new incoming emails, e.g. the notification popup appears (if it is enabled) but there is no number within the icon.

There is no difference, if KDE's desktop effects are enabled or not.

My system:

Kubuntu 8.10 (uptodate 8. Oct 2008)
kmail/intrepid uptodate 4:4.1.2-0ubuntu1
KDE 4.1.2
NVidia with driver 177.76

Another user in the german Kubuntu board told me the same like you did. But the email from bugzilla, informing about your reply, is the proof, that it isnn't working here. Popup splashed up but no number within the icon.

Is this still an issue for you with KDE4.1.4 or KDE4.2rc1? There are packages for both available in Intrepid. This works reliably for me with KDE4.2rc1. I'm pretty sure I'm using the default settings

The only places I can think of that have settings which could affect this are:
1. Settings > Configure Notifications , in kmail
2. Settings > Configure Kmail > Appearance > System Tray tab

Have you changed any of the default settings in either of those places?

I'm running KDE4.2 for some weeks now and I think the problem doesn't exist anymore. But I'm not completely sure.

Meanwhile I took a look on new OpenSuse with KDE4.1(3?) and there I was the phenomenon, too. Curios, isn't it.
