Bug Description

Since upgrading to dapper graphics is totaly broken on my powerbook G4 (Mobility
Radeon 9600 M10). X starts up but the whole screen is "compressed" to a few
lines in the center of the screen. Here is the perhaps most interessting part of
Xorg.log file:

Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server
FreeFontPath: FPE "unix/:7100" refcount is 2, should be 1; fixing.

does adding 1280x860 or 1280x854 to the Modes list in xorg.conf help at all?

I finally found out what caused the problems.

It was this line in my Device section:
#Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS, TMDS"

Don't know wheter to upstream this or not...

Having the same problem with ATI Radeon 9200 on a MacMini DVI, though there's no "MonitorLayout" option defined.

The final resolution is 840x1050x60Hz instead of 1680x1050x60Hz (exactly half the screen width).

FYI, using the DVI-to-VGA adapter gives the right resoltion, so it seems an issue related to DVI.

iroli, it seems that you finally got it working right. Can you please
check if the "INVALID IO ALLOCATION" is still showing in your
Xorg logs?

I'm still getting half the screen width... :(

   * Add 02_radeon_memmap_fbdev.diff. This should fix breakage when using
fbdev. Thanks Michel Dänzer. Closes: #369167
   * Don't require libdrm-dev on hurd-i386. Thanks Michael Banck.
