text from chat window gets copied or sent in wrong encoding

When i copy some text from chat window (IRC) and immediately paste it into the input field (quoting), it comes in wrong encoding, more strictly, only first line of the text does. It lookes normally in input field, but is sent in UTF8 (again, only first line) while proper encoding must be CP1251 in the case.

Example: User A sends user B the following text with cyrillic symbols and CP1251 encoding being set in his account properties:

первая строка теста (first test line)
вторая строка теста (seconf test line)
треться строка теста (third test line)

User B gets properly that text:

(00:29:45) A: первая строка теста (first test line)
(00:29:45) A: вторая строка теста (seconf test line)
(00:29:45) A: треться строка теста (third test line)

Then user B selects the recieved text, copies, pastes and sends it back to user A (B uses Pidgin and also has CP1251 encoding set in account settings). User A receives the following text:

(00:32:47) B: (00:29:45) A: первая строка теста (first test line)
(00:32:47) B: (00:29:45) A: вторая строка теста (seconf test line)
(00:32:47) B: (00:29:45) A: треться строка теста (third test line)

The first line is expected to be
(00:32:47) B: (00:29:45) A: первая строка теста (first test line)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.
