Applications menu closes immediately

Bug Description

In dapper, if I click on the aplications' menu, I can see the menu opening very
quickly, but it almost immediately disappears, letting just a little square, as
if the menu was suddenly empty.

For me too.
The Applications and the "Main Menu" do this but then Places and System menu are
not affected.

Are there log files for gnome errors somewhere?
