I concur that it is indeed broken. As ardour is something I use alot this should be addressed. I am downloading SVN version and compiling it to see if I can get it back.

I saw this on both ardour and ardour-i686 packages as well.

This bug renders Ardour unusable.

This bug is fixed upstream in 2.6.1 (released Oct 25th). Don't know when Ubuntu will get to including that version, but a deb for i368 and AMD_64 is availiable at getdeb.

Marking as "High", since it really renders ardour quite unusable, AFAICS.

For me it's the same thing, on my Ubuntu Intrepid.

Hoping the new updated version will be included soon in the repository!!

Yes - the only option for using ardour in 8.10 is building from source at the moment. Reminds me of 'back in the day' ;)

I installed via Synaptic in Ubuntu 8.10, and I am also using an AMD64.

My import dialog matches the screenshot provided. I was unable to drag and drop audio files from Nautilus to the import dialog.

I am able, however, to drag and drop directly onto the Ardour multitrack interface without opening the import dialog. This converts and copies the audio file into the project folder. So, embedding is not possible while this bug is not resolved.

One other problem I had was that the audio file is stored on an external USB hard disk, and when attempting to import via the method detailed above I am given the error message:

[ERROR]: Import: cannot open input soundfile "/media/SimpleDrive/Record/flute.16.09.2008/TRK1-0`"

The name of the audio file is "TRK1-02.wav", whereas in the error message it is described as "TRK1-0`".

Copying the file onto the internal hard disk before attempting to import solves the problem in this case. Ardour will import just fine when the file is on an internal disk, but not when it is on my external USB hard disk.

I'll keep watching this thread for any updates.

Thanks!

James
