Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

Package version: 2.24.0-1ubuntu1
Binary package: empathy
Source package: empathy
Description: Ubuntu intrepid (development branch)
Release: 8.10

What was expected:
Type a multi-word message or reply to a buddy after a text chat session was started using any supported IM service (AIM, Jabber, Salut etc)

What happened:
Using either AIM or Jabber when entering a space or any punctuation into the text entry field in an IM text only chat empathy crashes (though leaves the telepathy framework apparently functioning just fine). The happens regardless of who initiated the chat session. I can type spaces as long as they are the first character but not after typeing anything else. I can carry on a conversation with one word replies only or put a multi-word reply with one word per line, so it appears to be only the text input functionality that is a problem.

Additional information:
I have not been able to test any of the voice or video chat functionality at all, so I have no idea if that is affected in anyway. I did not have this problem with a fresh Intrepid Alpha6 install or testing Alpha6 with the live CD, but after an uncertain number of updates through update-manager but before the Intrepid beta released this bug started occurring.
