Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager-gnome

Ubuntu 8.10

network-manager-gnome 0.7~~svn20081005t082522-0ubuntu1

When I open nm-connection-editor and check the "system setting" box for my wireless network at home then click "OK", I am not prompted for authorization to change system settings. No error message is given. No file in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ is written. The checkbox is unchecked again the next time I open the network I just tried to change.

I expect the setting to take effect, or to get an error message explaining why it didn't.

I can confirm this. However, it does work when you create a new connection. It on;y fails when you try to edit an existing connection

Changed in network-manager-applet:
status: New → Confirmed

I can confirm it as well -- unlike Chris above, when I deleted the connection and created a new one with the "system setting" box checked, it did not save the setting. This is especially vexing because I'm letting my girlfriend use my laptop for the time being, and created an account for her -- and Network Manager won't show up for her if I switch to her account as a result of this.

Hopefully this is fixed in Jaunty in a couple of days.
Thanks.
