Same as reported PLUS, Network Manager has replaced my Wired connections with - ifupdown(eth0) - instead of my previous settings. Workaround was to manually set my DNS address at /etc/resolv.conf, however Firefox still saying that I am not connected although I am using Galeon without any trouble.

I have this error too.

Upgraded to 8.10 beta earlier this week - upgraded this morning and now have error were network manager says I am disconnected when in fact I am not.

Wired interface is now named Ifupdown (eth0) - which is read only.

Firefox and Pidgin - both start offline

This is affecting me as well. This is my primary work computer and I no longer have wired or wireless internet access. The strange thing is that I can access things on our corporate network. I'm using terminal server client to access the internet through the server to type this message. HELP!!!

I am running Ubuntu Studio 8.10 and have a very similar problem. I rely on my vpn connection every day. I can't connect if network manager thinks I'm disconnected. There seems to be some conflicts.
