Bug Description

Binary package hint: texmaker

When installing texmaker with the command 'apt-get install texmaker', apt wants to install various language packages for TeXlive. This give an installation size of 424mb. This did not happen in Hardy. On my machine, I have installed the packages xorg and texlive, so was expecting a small installation size ( I believe less than 20mb).

Release: Ubuntu intrepid (development branch).

Indeed, the installation of texmaker in intrepid pulls in the complete texlive (including all texlive-lang-* packages). The package requirements should be fixed ASAP.

There should also be a texmaker-static, most gnome and xfce users don't want to install all qt4-related packages.

The dependency list is the following:

aspell, ghostscript, netpbm, psutils, texlive-latex-extra, hunspell-dictionary | openoffice.org-spellcheck-de-de | myspell-dictionary | hunspell-en-us

Texlive-latex-extra does not require texlive-full, so in principle not all packages should be installed. What is your locale?
