The error occurred as one of many faults during an internet upgrade from Kubuntu 8.04.1 to 8.10 Intrepid Beta Release. The only action I took was to start the upgrade according to the instruction from Kubuntu.org.
Before this error I was also notified an incomplete installation of ca-certificates and an incomplete installation of "gconf2-common". This is unfortunately the best description I can give unless I run into the same error again.

No problem Thomas, this is perfect. I'm not fluent in your language (norwegian ?) but I've tracked down the error. It is :

dpkg: Feil ved behandling av linux-sound-base (--configure):
 underprosessen post-installation script drept med signal (Segmentation fault)

and

Setter opp ca-certificates (20080514-0ubuntu1) ...
*** stack smashing detected ***: /usr/bin/perl terminated
dpkg: Feil ved behandling av ca-certificates (--configure):

and many other packages.

I've no workaround for the moment, but I'm confirming it and leaving it assigned to Ubuntu for now.
