For gosmore to work, the data (e.g. germanyWest) must match the package version.

Furthermore, that the 2007 version of gosmore does not support the current version of OSM-XML. Either ubuntu should stop distributing gosmore, or it should distribute a more recent version.

Is this a symptom of the -O optimization flags needing to be removed from the Makefile to allow the program to run? I needed to rebuild the pkg with that to allow it to work on 12.04. (see live.osgeo.org for a live xubuntu dvd with that gosmore working on it)

but I see this bug report is very old, so probably out of date now. there's been a new release since it was reported.

gosmore (0.0.0.svn30327-1) is available in Debian unstable.

Because the Ubuntu package has changes, the updated Debian package won't be synced into Ubuntu automatically.

Bas, please slow down on changing the status of bug tickets. This report is old but from what I can read here the cause of the crash never actually became clear. As such, you can't mark it as fix committed.

@Michael, are you still using gosmore in a more recent release? Have you ever experienced this problem recently?

status: Fix Committed → Incomplete

Please don't reopen bugs that are never getting fixed by only being reported in the Ubuntu bug tracker.

gosmore is in universe, hence no one in Ubuntu takes care of this package. If you want to help, don't reopen bugs, but start working on gosmore upstream and get Ubuntu to sync the updated package from Debian.
