Use EXIF metadata to order photos by date and time of shooting

Bug Description

The "Browse by date" feature for photos seems to use the mtime of the photos. So if you once copy your whole photo collection to a new location, all photos appear under the same date.

Instead, Elisa should make use of EXIF data in the photo files to get the correct date when the photo actually was taken.

I believe it already does but only with some more recent version of a certain GStreamer element. I also think that this element is shipped with Ubuntu Intrepid. What operating system do you use Frederik?

I'm using Ubuntu Hardy, so unfortunately I cannot verify this. Anyone else?

Confirmed on Ubuntu Jaunty.
What's sorted in the database as "shot_time" is in fact the file's modification time.

Bumping importance, this renders the whole picture library pretty much useless with large collections.

This used to work with the old metadata pipeline, provided metadatademux is available

I am looking forward to this. Just installed moovida last night on Karmic. It's great!, but I noticed all my photos were listed under November, 2009. Luckily my folders include a month and year.
