Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

This is the first time I have an intel card in my hands, so bare with me. This mini-pc doesn't have a LVDS so that needs to be ignored (bug #277847). I have connected a VGA flatscreen through a DVI-I to VGA adapter. In Hardy it would work if I disabled the "TMDS-1" output. In Intrepid this doesn't help, it seems like it is "connected" anyway.

If I run "xrandr -q -d :0 --output VGA --auto" I get:
xrandr: Configure crtc 1 failed
Same error if I run "xrandr -q -d :0 --output TMDS-1 --off"

There might have been an error in the above xorg.conf (did not specify my "vga" monitor in the Screen section). I fixed this, and also tried the ForceEnablePipeA option with no luck.

It seems like the EDID info the two outputs get mixed up. According to upstream, this will maybe be fixed in 2.5.

Hi tormodvolden,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` too.

We'd like to forward your bug upstream, however upstream requires
that you first test it against their newer driver code.

To save you the effort of building the driver from source, we've built
packages for the driver and its new dependencies.

So you have a couple options:

 1. Download and test .debs for intrepid, from:
     https://edge.launchpad.net/~intel-gfx-testing/+archive

 -or-

 2. Download and test the Jaunty alpha-2 (or newer) Live CD,
(which includes a beta of the new xserver 1.6 as well).
     See http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/9.04/ for ISOs

Thanks ahead of time! You can simply reply to this email to report your
findings.

P.S., if you wish to forward your bug upstream yourself, please follow
these directions to do so:

This _should_ be fixed with 2.6.1. I don't have access to the system so that I can verify, but I tested upstream patches that later were committed. Only the resolution is wrong because the analog monitor EDID is not routed to the VGA (it shows up on the not-connected TDMS-1), but that's a much less serious issue, and not even part of my report here.

BTW, since the EDID info is mixed up, some identifiers showing up in the "Screen Resolution" applet will probably be wrong.
