I've upgraded the severity for this bug since the package is uninstallable and
therefore renders this locale unusable.
Please note that this bug applies to the most other firefox locales as well.
Kind regards and happy new year

Subject: locales not installable
Package: firefox
Version: 1.5.dfsg-3
Severity: important
The german locale m-f-locale-de-de is not installable on my system. I
have ff 1.5 installed but the locale depends on:
m-ff >= 1.0-3 and m-ff << 1.0.999
So this (and all other) locales are not installable.
Maybe I should have filled this report against the german locale package
but it seems to touch every locale for firefox.

So you file bugs against all the locale packages. I'm not really in a
position to do anything about it.=20

Yes, I know. Unfortunately I've been in a lack of time in the last
months, and also having some internet connection problems in the last
days. I hope to be able to update the packages during the following days.

I don't currently have time to update it. Moreover, now I'll not have an
Internet connection for some days (weeks?).
I've offered the package for adoption. Please, feel free to adopt it. Otherwise,
I'll try to update it as soon as I'm able to.
Best regards,
César

Is it possible to adopt only the de-de locale or does adopting the package
imply to adopt all firefox-locales? Or asked otherwise: is this package hard
to maintain?
If nobody wants to adopt the package maybe you could make your RFA more public
by asking on d-devel or ask the firefox-maintainers directly?
Kind regards
Bastian

Thanks for the interest.
David Moreno Garza <email address hidden> has already adopted the whole
package. He plans to have the package ready for this weekend.
Ask him if you want some more details about that.

It seems that we have a weekend that never ends? (At least for about 20
days now. ;-) )
Please provide a new locale package for firefox 1.5 ASAP. It is really
needed.
Kindly regards,
Erik

There are busy days for me, if you just can't understand people may be
busy more than they expected with personal IRL things, please work on
the package. I bet your weekends are way shorter than mines.

Hi ff-locale-
would it help to involve more DDs in co-maintaining this package?
Firefox is an important package and I guess for many non-techies an
uninstallable locale renders firefox useless.
I suggest to ask for help e.g. on d-devel. This way you can attract at
least a few DD who can spare some time to do the minor fixes and uploads
required to fix this bug.
I understand well that sometimes you just don't find the time to fix
things and get work done, but the more popular the package is the more
likely you should have co-maintainers to help in situations like this. I
guess you know this for yourself since you've allready asked for
co-maintainers, but I suggest to ask again on d-devel just to keep
things moving =)
BTW: please don't send followups to <email address hidden> (again) --
it's hard to follow the conversation this way ;)
Kind regards,
Bastian

Hi,
I took the freedom to merge the above bugs since they're all related to
the same bug (new upstream version of locales available + dependencies
need to be adjusted to new firefox version).
I hope this helps a bit.

Hi Cesar,
I've tried to fix this bug and prepared an NMU-Version. It includes the
new locales from upstream, builds fine in a pbuilder environment and
seems to work at least with the locales I've tested.
What I've done:
- applied the ubuntu patch to the latest Debian version
- removed ubuntu specific parts
- removed postinst/-rm scripts since they only executed one command,
which is not supported anymore by firefox
- used debian/rules wget to fetch the new locales
- used debian/rules update-debian-files to create the control files
- build the packages
Note:
- I've *not* renamed the downloaded xpi-files (eg. de to de-DE)
- I've not removed the blacklisted locales (which already have an extra
package
- The package is not linda/lintian clean
But it seems to work and may be a good start to get things moving again.
feel free to download and test your locale version. You can get it from
here:
http://
I'll try to look through the code again and make the package
linda/lintian clean. If I succeed and don't hear any complains from the
other reporters/testers or you, I intend to NMU this package.
I've attached a patch, which is rather lengthly, so I'm tagging this bug
with + patch.
BTW: Is there any reason why some locales are split out of the
locales-all package and have their own Debian package?
I hope this helps a bit and kind regards
Bastian

mozilla-
firefox after the update, the following message appears:

| Registration.
| Please contact the author about this problem.

This message appears only the first time after the upgrade. Closing
Firefox and starting it again, does not show this warning anymore. But
the locale is still not activated (I still have the English interface).
Looking at the extensions-window, the locale is there and no error
shown, but the locale itself is still not working.
I've tested it with the French locale too -- same problem. So I guess it
applies to all other locales in *-locales-all too and reopen the bug.
Regards,
Bastian

As there are already two other bugs opened for the new issue I'm going
to close these 7 bugs again...

So, this is already known and being worked on. Thanks for the trouble
though.

So you file bugs against all the locale packages. I'm not really in a
position to do anything about it.
