Bug Description

My intrepid beta install (upgraded from hardy) freezes during the usplash loading screen doing a soft-reboot, for example, when selecting reboot from the login screen or while logged in).

It freezes at about 10% roughly (2.5 notches on the progress bar). I see all hard-drive activity cease and the computer becomes unresponsive to all keys (caplocks, sys magic-keys, ctrl+alt+f1, ctrl+alt+del) and remains this way until I do a hard reboot by resetting the power. After this, the system then boots correctly.

Interestingly, the problem doesn't occur if I stop usplash from loading by switching to a vt during booting using ctrl+alt+f1 as soon as the first splash screen appears.

If I do an emergency reset using the sys keys (ctrl+alt+sys+REISUB) the system also boots up without issue.

This sounds somewhat similar to Bug #274155 by the way...
