I think he means he's trying to launch an application he added to the favorites menu. At any rate, I got the same thing when trying to launch Firefox from the favorites pane; it was placed there a while back, before the "add to favorites" click option picked up the application's icon.

Put a different way, at some point in the past, I added Firefox to my favorites menu and it only showed up as a gear, and today when I tried to launch it I got this error. Removing and re-adding Firefox picked up the icon, and now launches the program correctly.

I can confirm this problem still exists on 64-bit 9.04a4 Jaunty. Adding my own option to the menu and setting it to run in the system tray causes the crash dialog to pop us saying it died with "SIGSEGV in NETRootInfo::update()"

Running from the command line:

evil@mars:~$ ksystraycmd /home/evil/BOINC/run_manager
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

This bug has six duplicates, bug in upstream version is confirmed, why kde4libs is set to "triaged" and not to "confirmed" ?

Triaged is better than confirmed. It means that no further action needs to be taken in gathering information, etc. Basically it means that there is enough info for someone to fix the bug.
