Bug Description
Binary package hint: xserver-
Description: Ubuntu intrepid (development branch)
Release: 8.10
Enabled ati restricted driver for my HD4850 card":
-had to enter my password then I saw an icon next to driver indicating I should reboot to enable driver.
-shut down computer
-on reboot instead of seeing the login window was automatically taken to a safe login mode stating that my driver fialed to load.
-chose to save log file and switch to a generic driver ..

This shouldn't be at duplicate of bug #264462. This bug talks about the restricted driver (eg. fglrx) and #264462 is about the open source radeon driver.
In Clueless xorg.conf it says 'Driver "fglrx" ', and not 'Driver "ati" '
Also the "affected package" should be xserver- xorg-video- fglrx instead of xserver- xorg-video- ati
