Please backport python 2.6

Bug Description

Python v2.6 was released on October 1, 2008. This is meant to be backwards compatible to v2.5 code aside from some modules being removed from standard library and helps in preparing for the release of python 3.

Thank you for your bug report. Unfortunately, Python 2.6 is not in Intrepid, so there is nothing to backport.

Futhermore, we do not backport interperters as a rule of thumb, the chance of regression is simply too high. Marking WONTFIX.
