Bug Description

Bug initially from GNOME Do, but I've been meaning to file something like this for some time. All mono apps will show up in powertop with lines like:

11.1% ( 21.4) gnome-do : futex_wait (hrtimer_wakeup)

Linked to the upstream bug report.

I'm fairly sure this is actually a Mono problem - I think you'll find
all mono apps have this 10Hz timer behaviour. I'll check, and
possibly forward this bug on to the mono package.

Is this covered by the rather non-committal, non-specific https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=379602 ?

Thank you for hunting that one down for me! I'll move this to Ubuntu's mono package, where it belongs. We can't do anything about it in Do.

From the upstrem bug report:

"This is now fixed in the SVN version of mono, but the fix required complex
changes, so we will wait a while before considering backporting it to
2.4/2.2/2.0."

This has got to be one of the most annoying bugs in linux land.

Man, if this is one of the most annoying bugs you're hitting... What
parallel universe do you come from, and how do I get there?

There is only one way to fix all moNO bugs:

remove mono from GNOME and replace mono dependent applications by moNO free ones.
Replacing Tomboy with Gnote is good step forward.

BTW, there is a repository with latest Gnote packages for Ubuntu. You can get it here:
https://launchpad.net/~vperetokin/+archive/gnote

                                                      !!!

Please, remove moNO - M$ trojan horse in Linux.
How much it is important for the Free Software World?

I love retards :) Can we keep him as a pet? I'll tell you what
VangelistX, if you can point out a single significant (a whole feature
or more) contribution you have made to an open source project, and prove
it, I will apologize to you for calling you a brain dead chimp. Of
course, if you have done zero to actually produce free software, well
then you can go take a running leap.

Love,
DBO
