Cannot paste text from other applications into scribus

I cannot paste text from openoffice, firefox, gedit into a text area in scribus. This makes scribus useless for me.

Neither middle click paste, nor ctrl+v or edit/paste work.

This has been confirmed in both hardy and intrepid with both scribus and scribus-ng.

This is expected behavior for the Scribus application, and is being tracked as a bug upstream there.

The issue is that Scribus uses a different method for its clipboard than Open Office or other default Ubuntu products. There currently is no bridge between the clipboards, so it is currently not possible to perform this function. The bug is being worked on upstream.

I don't see why the fact that this bug is tracked upstream makes it invalid in launchpad. Most of the bugs in launchpad are tracked upstream but are not deemed invalid...

This bug is still in version 1.3.3.12 in Jaunty. I seriously doubt they're still working on it upstream, since the last post made to that bug report was back in 2006. In three years they still haven't bothered to use a standard clipboard like most of the rest of the Linux world. Disappointing.

Nevermind, seems to be fixed(so far!) in 1.3.5. Get the repos from the Scribus website and install scribus-ng.
