loading version 8.04.1 impossible

Bug Description

After starting and booting on both CD Desktop 8.04.1 or DVD Alternate 8.04.1, after selecting language and launching Ubuntu 8.04, the Linux kernel is loaded at 100%, but then panel remain dark. Further action impossible.

You may want to try entering some boot options to get around this. At the Live CD menu screen, press F6. Then type in:

acpi=off noapic nolapic

There are other boot options to try, see here:

If this doesn't work, you should provide details of your hardware (make/model).

That bug is practically the same as Bug Nr. 178896. See correspondence
under 178896.
I could solve it with the help of Mario.
Main problem was apparently concentrated on clocksource.
By making clocksource=jiffies when starting I could run the new version
and I still operate today with version 8.04 LTS.
