Thank you for filing this bug. Could you clarify what you mean by "text field works"? Does ctrl-c only not work in specific places? Where? Do you have problems with any other keyboard shortcuts?

when i mark a text in konqueror (website) and pres ctrl-c it won't copy. i musst use the right click und select copy. the same in konsole. when i mark a text in the adress line and press than ctrl-c it will copied. the same work with form in websites like <textarea> or <input>.

It wouldn't work in konsole, you have to use ctrl+shift+c, since ctrl+c means kill current process.

ok, but copy text from websites, won't work, too.

Just to make sure, what version of KDE4 are you running? You can find that out with any kde4 application by going to help -> about application.

Also, is klipper running? Funky stuff happens if klipper isn't running. (You should see a clipboard icon in the systray if it is running.)

i use 4.1.2 now. but at the moment i have install gnome i have the same problem with konqueror.
klipper i don't use.

u can reproduce it. install gnome or kde4. install all updates. mark a text in konqueror from some news site or what u want. copy ist into the adress bar or a text editor an u see it isn't copied.

If you don't have klipper or the gnome equivalent of glipper running, you can expect to run in to weird problems such as these.

i have install klipper. when i copy by short cut i can see it in klipper but i can't paste it. i get a text that i have copied before. only when i copy the text by context (right-click) i can paste it.

Is this still an issue, we did quite some changes meanwhile, so there is a good chance this issue got fixed by now.

I confirm, I have the same issue on KDE 4.1.2 running on 8.04.
If I try to copy a text from Eclipse (which is also a GTK UI) it doesn't work either. Hitting CTRL+C twice works however and using the context menu works as well.

Hey we are in version 4.2.4 and this problem is not solved yet, why so?

I also try to copy anything from firefox, eclipse, any other editor and nothing, I must hit twice the ctr+c or use context menu :(

My Ubuntu version is 9.04

It seems that the source of this problem is klipper. After I closed it I have no more this problem for 3 days already.

Hi all

I can confirm this problem too. After system startup, I can use konsole as it should be, I can copy texts inside konsole with context menu and shortcut key. However, after I have copied(selected?) anything from other applications(GTK apps like firefox or QT apps like kchmviewer), I cannot copy anything inside konsole. I can reproduce this problem with and without a running klipper.

dist: Kubuntu karmic(9.10)
kde: 4.2.96(KDE4.3 RC2)
Qt: 4.5.2

I have several kdelibs packages installed:
ii kdelibs-bin 4:4.2.96-0ubuntu3
ii kdelibs-data 4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-1ubuntu8
ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-1ubuntu8
ii kdelibs5 4:4.2.96-0ubuntu3
ii kdelibs5-data 4:4.2.96-0ubuntu3
