Bug Description

The network card is:
00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82562GT 10/100 Network Connection (rev 03)
on a HP 6820s notebook

"ifconfig" only shows the loopback interface.

The card works with the 2.6.27-3 kernel.

Can you see your card when you do lspci or lshw on your terminal? Can you attach the output of these commands?

The e1000e device driver was disabled until resolution of the NVM corruption mentioned in the other bug.

Looking at the Ars topic and the other bug, it looks like only gigabit ethernet controllers are affected.

The ethernet in my notebook is a 10/100 one. The card is listed in the Ars topic, but is then "deleted" from the list of affected cards.

Is this still a duplicate of bug #263555 ?

The e1000e driver was disabled because it is suspected to cause problems with integrated gigabit chipsets. Your Ethernet controller, while it is only a 10/100 one, should be serviced by the e1000e driver in Intrepid, probably because of similarities in the chipset.

It's a duplicate in the sense that your bug won't be resolved until bug #263555 is fixed in a way that will allow the driver to be re-enabled. My understanding is that there are many people (including people from Intel) who are working to resolve the issue.
