Bug Description

I'm using Inkscape 0.46 (Aug 11 2008).

I'd like to convert a lot of svg into pdf. When I don't use export-text-to-path texts look ugly and they are messed so I decided to use export-text-to-path. But it works only with ps/eps through CLI. When I use GUI and check export text to path it renders correctly.

To sum up: exporting text to path whilst exporting to pdf works only when using GUI.

The problem is solved, partially. It's essential to put
inkscape --export-pdf=file --export-text-to-path

in this order and not with --export-text-to-path first. It shouldn't work so, I think.

What I am writing about is an attachment:

When I export attached file to pdf without using export-text-to-path - it becomes ugly (whilst the second one's correct). It's probably problem with units. Why I don't want to use exporting? My file becomes above 1MB instead of 60kB.

Although this file introduces itself as generated by inkscape it's generated by me and it's only a little piece of a big image. As you can see - the first one's generated by me - the second added via inkscape.

Any news about this? Inkscape 0.46 (Apr 8 2009) does not fix anything.

Confirmed on Ubuntu 9.04, Inkscape 0.46.
With the latest build (21237), it's even worse. When export text to path is set, Inkscape exports a blank page, with no text at all, even with the GUI (works well if the texts are manually converted to path with Path>Object to path).

PDF export via command line (with text as text or converted to path) works fine with Inkscape 0.48.1 on OS X 10.5.8 (i386).

Do you still have the same issues with any stable release > 0.46?

Not reproduced with Inkscape 0.48.3.1 either (converting text-to-path works on the command line for PDF export, and the order of the arguments doesn't make a difference. Exporting with text as text produces correct PDF files (with embedded, subset fonts).

Closing as 'Fix Released' - both known major issues with text converted to path in cairo-based exports (bug #284680 and bug #388257) had been fixed in Inkscape 0.47.

Changed in inkscape:
milestone: none → 0.47
status: Incomplete → Fix Released
