Harald, i have not seen the fault again after reporting. Is there anything I should do to recreate?

Well, I am not sure. The trace files created by Apport suggest that the crash happened when trying to get access via Ice.

Usually I would assume that your .ICEauthority file just got wrong permission that very time (could be caused when running GUI apps with sudo for example).

I am going to close for now, please run
ls -lah .ICEauthority
and reopen this bug with the output of that command.
