Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

Kubuntu Intrepid Alpha 6 up-to-date as of 2008-Sep-28.

If on Kickoff on or KRunner I search for non-KDE-4 apps -- they may be KDE 3 apps like Amarok or GTK apps like Firefox -- I get *two* results, one being the proper menu item Amarok or Firefox with the proper icon, another being an entry reading "amarok.desktop" or "firefox.desktop" or so with a generic gear icon.

Expected: either in Kickoff of KRunner I should get only the one result with the proper icon.

Noting however that both the results seem to work in launching the desired app. So this is basically a cosmetic bug, but it mars the clean image of KDE 4 nevertheless.

This may also be related to bug 254688 regarding non-KDE-4 apps added to favourites getting the gear icon.

I can confirm this bug. Non-KDE applications also seem to be reduced to "somename.desktop" with a generic gear icon when you add them to the favourites menu.

Also, when editing the menu of kickoff, you have many items (including KDE4 apps) that appears twice. At least for me (kubuntu latest BETA) when i try to edit the menu, has that behavior, which does not occurs when browsing kickoff.
If i install Lancelot plasmoid, i could see all the item repeated twice.
