Bug Description

Using Hardy Heron, my webcam was picked up by cheese and gstreamer-properties (although it took for ever, and any app trying to access it would hang for ~15 seconds). Now nothing can pick it up.

The webcam is by Creative. lsusb tells me:
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 041e:4034 Creative Technology, Ltd WebCam Instant

Correction, Ekiga can pick it up, apparently. I don't know what it doesn't differently.

gstreamer-properties gives me the following:
gstreamer-properties-Message: Error running pipeline 'Video for Linux (v4l)': Could not synchronize on resource. [v4lsrc_calls.c(124): gst_v4lsrc_sync_frame (): /GstPipeline:pipeline0/GstV4lSrc:v4lsrc3:

Intrepid has lost my video camera also - its not found in cheese, ekiga or skype - all these worked under hardy.

This is on a Dell XPS 1330m

I think this is the lsusb output for the web cam
Bus 007 Device 003: ID 05a9:2640 OmniVision Technologies, Inc.

hi! can you check if this bug is related to some of this bugs?

bug #290506 (workaround reducing resolution to the lowest one)
bug #282473, and bug #287888

This could be a dupe from the bug #290506 and a regression-release

The ones that reported the problem with the 05a9:xxxx device (omnivision) please go to bug #290506 or bug #287888 ,as these bugs are related to uvcvideo driver corresponding to your webcams.

As the original reporter is no longer having the issue i'm closing this bug.

Thanks a lot for your help.
