Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, , because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

I have tried different versions/flavors to install. While results are different one thing is common that *you can not install from a live CD.*
I will try to give you more detailed reports. Below is the story of one of the attempts:

Ubuntu 8.04.1 AMD 64 Desktop (Alternate install):

1. Install is smooth.
2. OS doesn't boot. "caps" indicator keeps blinking.
2. Now I boot the machine with kernel options splash and quiet removed, I see kernel panic with following messages in the end
RIP [ffffffff8036ddb0] vgacon_cursor+0x10/0x1f0
RSP <ffffffff80635f78>
CR2 000000000000004c
end trace 2ce005c0852e264f
Kernel panic - not syncing: Aiee, killing interrupt handler

Next I would try intrepid alpha 6 (32 bit) alternate install

Thanks as always

I tried Alternate install of Intrepid alpha6 AMD 64. Install was smooth. Laptop booted fine.It was low resolution display but I guess later installing restricted driver for NDIVIA should fix.
So problem is now reduced only for live+install CDs.

Just forgot to mention that I had to pass "noacpi" option while booting.

Good news. Jaunty installs and works well.
Wifi somehow stopped working after running fine for sometime. I didn't yet get time to find more details.
