ok it's done
Just remove all 2.6.24-19 files from /boot/
and then just
reinstall linux-image-2.6.24-19-genric

Is this on vfat?

Agostino, there are the 2 packages denoting a Wubi installation (lupin-casper and lupin-support) and there is the typical error " ln: creating hard link [...] : Operation not permitted"

That's why I've presumed that this is a duplicate but I may be wrong.
