OpenOffice 2.4.1 crash in Ubuntu 8.04

Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-core

When I use impress, for some actions (editing a text area, for example), the whole oo window become grey and unavailable for 5-10 sec.
Gnome is still ok and we can access other softwares, except oO

I use Ubuntu 8.04 up to date and the package openoffice.org-core 1:2.4.1-ubuntu2

Thank you for reporting this bug. The issue you are experiencing looks like it might not be a bug. In Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron), Compiz is enabled by default. One of its effects is turning applications gray when they become unresponsive. You can test this by going to System->Preferences->Appearance. Click on the "Visual Effects" tab, and check the box next to "None". This will disable Compiz. Now, your applications will not turn gray when they become unresponsive. You will just be unable to use them. If it turns out that Compiz was causing the application to turn gray, please close this bug report as 'Invalid', as it is not an issue in openoffice.org. Thanks again.

Thank you very much for your answer. I thought this was a bug, because i found it on a new system. But, you're right, and my problem is now solved.
