Bug Description

As opencascade is now available in ubuntu, please add opencascade support for netgen and gmsh. Both mesh utilities uses opencascade to import IGES and STEP files.

Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better.

The best way to get the features you're asking for is for you to file a bug report with the opencascade developers. You are in the best position to talk to them about the features you want. If they provide a publicly-available link to their bug, please add the link to this bug report, so we can track it.

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately, I have not correctly explained what I meant. The functionality is already there, gmsh and netgen have only to link against the libopencascade6.2 in order to have the functionality to import IGES and STEP files. So something like "--enable-occ --with-occ-prefix=$CASROOT/lin" should be added to the rules file in case of gmsh and something more tricky should be needed for netgen.

Thanks for clarifying.

Thank you for placing the upstream bugs with Debian. Since we get all three packages (opencascade, gmsh, and netgen) from Debian, any patches submitted there will propagate to Ubuntu in a subsequent release.

Changing to package 'gmsh'. This bug will deal only with the gmsh support.

There is not currently an Ubuntu bug for netgen. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=506523
