Hello,

of course it is not STRG+U but STRG+SHIFT+U (like formatting bold
characters with STRG+SHIFT+F).
The problem is even bigger: The marked/highlighted text isn't only
replaced by an underlined 'u', this special 'u' reacts very
strange/buggy for example to a line-change and can hardly be deleted.

Explaining this in English is quite an adventure for me.

Hi Daniel,

this is not a bug, but a "feature" of the gtk-frontend. In all gtk-applications the combination ctrl+shift+u is used to activate the input of unicode-characters. There are several possibilities to cope with that: Either you have to force the use of xim as input-method for ooo (if you do not need the feature, I do), or you simply will need to change the shortcut.

This behavior is known, please refer to Bug #111308 for further information.
