Binary package hint: bitpim

im running intrepid alpha 6 when i try to open bitpim version 1.0.5 dsfg.1-4 it says program closed unexpectedly i installed from repos i have hp pavilion zv5255us laptop amd64

This looks very much like bug 211553, in which case it is a bug in wxwidgets2.6 not in bitpim.
This could be solver in two ways:

- patching wxwidgets2.6 so that we install upstream wx.pth instead of the generated file, or
- changing bitpim dependencies to wxwidgets2.6

Anyway, can you confirm that by installing python-wxgtk2.8 your problem disappears?

Confirming for wxwidgets2.6; same problem with wammu (see 255770), provami and the test program in bug 211552.
Interesting enough other programs depending on wxwidgets2.6 do not crash, and for at least one the problem was in the program itself (svn-workbench, see bug 254160).

I can confirm that using upstream wx.pth solves the problem for bitpim, wammu, provami and the test file.
