Wrong sized glyphs in new math objects

Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org2

Whenever I create new formulae in OpenOffice, there is something strange that happens with the size of the symbols and other glyphs in my new formulae. This always happens with new math objects, but as soon as open and accept (OK) the font size dialog, the glyph sizes correct themselves.

There is an example screenshot over here:
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=9842

I am assured again that this problem doesn't exist with 'standard' openoffice.org (from Sun) but only in the Ubuntu distro.

Cheers
JP

Seems to be possible to workaround this bug by creating a new formula, then opening the Font Sizes dialog, then clicking 'default' (without making any changes). Looks like somehow my Math object defaults were messed up such that they didn't match the values that actually appear in the Font Sizes dialog.

Did that permanently fix the problem, or just for that one file?

Seems to have permanently fixed it on the computer I applied it on. But I still see the problem on my other computer. So it's happening repeatedly in some way or other that I can't identify. If there is some file I could compare between the two systems, let me know what it is.

Update: the Font Sizes workaround was *not* permanent; the problem has returned. And it has returned on two separate computers that I use, so it's reproducable, to some extent.

Can you still reproduce this bug on Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid)?

I am using 8.04, and yes, this bug is still present and occurring regularly. The Font Size default seems to be forgotten periodically (I'm not sure why or how often).

FWIW the glitch seems to appear each time I restart OpenOffice, but not each time I create a new document. Presumably it's something wrong with the way font preferences for Math are saved or loaded.

I couldn't notice a difference in font size it appeared they very slightly shifted to the left after hitting OK on the font size dialog though. Perhaps the issue is fixed in 8.10 now, it was released today.
