Bug Description

Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop

Intrepid Ibex alpha 6, Kubuntu.

The machine (Thinkpad R61i) supports both sleep and hibernation (they worked nicely under KDE 3.5.9 in Hardy), nevertheless in the "Leave" tab there are no options to sleep or hibernate.

Hello.

If you merely want the functionality to be there, check out the logout applet that appears after you click on one of the options of the leave tab. If you press and hold the shutdown button in that applet, then you will see Suspend to RAM and Suspend to Disk. "Suspend to Disk" = "Hibernate".

If you want there to be a menu item, please report it at bugs.kde.org under plasma since it is not a Ubuntu specific bug.

Also, next time please consider asking a question at answers.launchpad.net before reported a bug here.

Thanks for your support of Kubuntu.

Hello. I am using the latest Kubuntu Intrepid Alpha 6 updated till today 2008-09-28 and this wishlist seems to have been implemented. I see Suspend to Disk and Suspend to RAM options right in the Kickoff menu.

Alongwith that my upstream bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=171255 regarding redundant display of choices after choice has been made seems to also have been fixed. Great going guys! You keep at this and we'll stop the complaining words of those who are disappointed about KDE 4 not being ready.

Hello. While we are at it, I note that clicking on the newly made available "Suspend to RAM" or "Suspend to Disk" options do not ask for confirmation. I would also like confirmation for these, maybe with a shorter timeout (currently it is 30 sec for Shutdown / Reboot) and make sure that these confirmations are also controllable from:

System Settings -> Advanced -> Session Manager -> Confirm Logout

though saying "Logout" in the case of "Suspend" action is somewhat not so appropriate...
