gnubg has installed a desktop file since 0.16~20080216-2.

I'm using Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 fully upgraded and the gnubg is Version: 0.90-2

Well, I don't personally use Ubuntu, but that version of gnubg shows up in
the GNOME Applications menu in Debian unstable.

I confirm using Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 (unstable) fully upgraded and gnubg Version: 0.90-2
The package doesn't appear in a menu.
