Bug Description

Hi all,

Strange issue: Dragging the attached image into an open document crashes Inkscape every time. It doesn't seem to matter from where I drag it (e.g. desktop, a folder). I've reproduced it three times.

Found on Windows Vista SVN build sept 10th. Does this happen any where else?

P.s. importing it through the file menu also crashes Inkscape.

It also crashes the stable .46 on Windows Vista

there was something unusual about the original file, for example I could not view it using IE7 or Microsoft Photo Editor, but I could view it with Microsoft Paint.
In Inkscape the File Preview produced the crash message :
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'Gdk::PixbufError'

In any event, I loaded it into Paint and immediately saved it again to produce the attached file, which loads into Inkscape.

I believe the problem was in the original file.
could you try the new version and see if this helps?

Changed in inkscape:
status: New → Incomplete

Crashes also with Inkscape 0.47 under Windows XP. The PNG file is invalid (the final byte is zeroed, causing a CRC error in the IEND chunk), so it's not necessary for Inkscape to be able to load the file, but obviously it shouldn't crash. The reason for the crash is that the Gdk::PixbufError exception isn't caught, so this bug is really a duplicate of bug #173116.
