this should be fixed in shared-mime-info. but i can confirm that it's missing there... I'll file a bug upstream about it

Hi,
currently musepack/mpc files are only recognized as 'application/octet-stream'.
the file extensions for these files are .mpc, .mpp and .mp+

I would suggest 'audio/x-musepack' as the correct mimetype as this is also used
by gstreamer.

tried it again now - Nautilus identifies the files as audio/x-musepack now, so they are unassigned again...

Unassigned, yes... but identified correctly. Currently no package other than banshee claims support for it.
Which one should in your oppinion? totem?

Sebastien, any ideas on this? Should we just add audio/* and video/* to totem's supported mimetypes in the .desktop file?

jup, I would vote for totem, since its also the default for all the other audio files. (hint: name it media- not just audio-player, but theres already a bug about that)

but generally any gstreamer based programm can handle muspack, if you have gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad installed...
