Bug Description

Binary package hint: kicker

Ugly squares system tray.

Since I have been using kubuntu intrepid alpha 6, I noticed that my systemtray icons are surrounded by ugly squares (screenshot attached). Sometimes the icons fall away completely, showing squares with my wallpaper through it. It looks like a transparancy problem to me.

Kicker falling away partly.

Sometimes when I use GTK applications such as Mozilla Thunderbird or when I use openoffice programs different parts of kicker are falling away, showing my wallpaper only. This happens frequently and randomly to the clock, systemtray, windowswitcher and the taskmanager. Sometimes even my whole wallpaper falls away showing a black screen only until I minimize or close the application.

Inverted kickoff colors.

When using the same applications my kickoff is sometimes displaying inverted colors.

I am working on a Acer Aspire 9302AWSMi Laptop, AMD 64 processor, Nvidia GeForce Go 6100 videocard. The problems happend both in Kubuntu Intrepid Alpha 5 and Alpha 6.

Unfortunatly I was not able to make more screenshots of the inverted colors and kicker falling away. I hope these problems can be fixed. I always used Gnome before, but I love the new KDE 4.1 and really want to use it for a longer time, but I will be forced to go back to Gnome when these problems continue.

The other two issues are driver-related. The nvidia-177 beta drivers should fix the last two issues.

The problem is that I have been using the nvidia-177 driver all the time. Should this problem already be fixed in the current 177 driver, or will it be fixed later on?

Supposedly the "parts of the panel falling away" issue was fixed in the 177 drivers. There is another bug report about that around somewhere...
The systray issues will be addresses in KDE 4.2 with a new and improved systray.
