Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

The modem depends on usb_modeswitch (http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/), which I load using udev rules (attached).

To connect with the modem, I have to use HSOconnect (http://www.pharscape.org/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,68/page,viewtopic/t,474/), as that's the only way I've found to work. wvdial doesn't detect the modem, even if I load the usbserial module on it, and the same applies to gnome-ppp.

Then network-manager is no better off. I can't see any way to tell network-manager that I have this modem connected to my computer. It's loaded with the hso module, but network-manager doesn't detect the ttyUSB's either.

Oh, and I use the latest network-manager packages from the PPA on 8.04.

I do encounter the same issue with my ICON 225 modem on intrepid. Enclosing lshal and relevant dmesg.
Unfortunately on Intrepid the pharscape.org drivers do not compile anymore.

Isn't this the same bug as #256296?

Unload the 'option' driver and the 'hso' module, then reload the 'hso' module, and it should work. Blacklisting the 'option' module and rebooting should work as well.
