Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome

laptop HP -Compaq 6710b when I close the lid on my laptop and re-open everything is frozen. I think it is gnome that crashes because it has happened with nothing particular running and also with a few apps open.
I have my power preferences set so that the screen doesn't black-out when lid is closed. Other than that all other options suspend, hibernate, etc work fine.

I am running hardy heron 8.04.1
 gnome 2.22.3

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

I will answer in a few days, It may be a hardware problem and I will
re-install system first to match a friend who has the same set-up and no
problems. I sent everything I know for the moment.
