Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn

Release of Ubuntu:
Description: Ubuntu intrepid (development branch)
Release: 8.10
Updated to today

Version of the package:
network-manager-openvpn 0.7~~svn20080908t183521a-0ubuntu2
openvpn 2.1~rc9-3ubuntu2

I did a connection to my openvpn server with NM0.7. The problem is that I can't connect with it. I give a IP address but finally the connection shutdowns immediately.

This is a duplicate of 280160 : network-manager-openvpn shouldn't drop the connection when openvpn self-restarts. You should also see less "decryption errors" soft-restarts with the latest openvpn update.

I have the exact same error message in syslog: "nm-dispatcher.action: Script '/etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d/01ifupdown' exited with error status 1.". In my case, the connection status appears to be working, but when I try to HTTP to an intranet URL over VPN I get a timeout.

I put some debugging output in the script "/etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d/01ifupdown", and it turns out it gets called with the parameter $2 "vpn-up" and "vpn-down". The script only knows "up" and "down", so it fails with exit 1 (bottom of script).

This looks like a bug to me: the script is called with the wrong parameters.

I don't think it has anything to do with self-restarts.
