Bug Description
Binary package hint: thunderbird
I rarely receive automatic generated mail-answers from sender, who do not set a message-ID.
These e-mails show up in my inbox every time I touch the receive button.
I have set my server-setting not to delete mails at my network operator as I want to receive the same mail at another PC too.
All other mails behave normal, i.e. no mails are show more than once even if they are read and/or moved to another folder.
I think the problem is connected to the fact, that the faulty e-mails do not have a message-ID.
I do understand that Thunderbird need to show a message without ID as there could be such messages from more senders.
But could the "null" message-ID be combined with the received time-stamp so Thunderbird could reject fetching the same mail repeatedly?
I use Thunderbird version 2.0.0.16 (20080724) on Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy) kernel Linux 2.6.24-19

Hello Nivol.
Thanks for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.
You made this bug report in 2008 regarding Thunderbird and there have been several versions of Thunderbird since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket? Or, if it is still a problem, could you come to Launchpad and make a comment to that effect?
Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.
