Bug Description

nvidia-glx as provided by linux-restricted-modules-2.6.15 (2.6.15.3-1) contains
the file /usr/bin/nvidia-settings, also contained in the nvidia-settings
package. As a result, if nvidia-settings is installed, nvidia-glx cannot be
upgraded. A conflict/replace should be identified in the control file to ease
removal.

I also just got this error using all the lastest updates in dapper as of 20051217:

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/nvidia-settings_1.0-3ubuntu6_i386.deb: trying to
overwrite `/usr/bin/nvidia-settings', which is also in package nvidia-glx

I get this in dapper flight3. Trying to install nvidia-glx_1.0.8178+2.6.15.4-4_i386.deb and nvidia-settings_1.0-3ubuntu7_i386.deb - the result is nvidia-glx installed, nvidia-settings not installed. I guess this is the appropriate result.

This is not a bug in nvidia-settings, it doesn't need to conflict with anything. It's nvidia-glx's job to declare the conflict, and it has done so for ages.
