Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdegames

In Ubuntu Hardy/Intrepid, the KDE4 game Kolf shows a weird behavior. If you the ball goes outside the boundary of the game region, the target hole will mysteriously disappear. Therefore it becomes impossible for you to finish the round.

To reproduce the bug, open kolf, choose 'new game'. Remove the 2nd player. Choose 'Impossible Course', and click OK. Click 'Next hole' twice to go directly to the third hole. Strike the ball hard to the left, so the ball goes outside the visible region. Then suddenly the hole inside the fence will disappear.

What type of graphics card do you have, and which drivers are you using? This is very likely a bug with the drivers for you graphics card rather than with Kolf.

I'm using ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 with its proprietary fglrx driver. However, I reproduced the same bug in VirtualBox with the OpenSuSE KDE 4.1 livecd by following the above steps. So I think it's likely to be an upstream bug, other than a problem with the Ubuntu package or my video driver. The old KDE3 version of the game doesn't seem to have this problem.

It doesn't happen with the nv drivers, but it does happen with the nvidia 96 series drivers if desktop effects are on.

Hi zengmao,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.

Hi I'm the original reporter. "lspci -vvnn" output, "Xorg.0.log" are attached below. I am currently too busy to test the Jaunty alpha but may do so later.

Seems fixed with the latest nvidia driers in Kubuntu 9.04 at least.

I've posted a new version of the -fglrx driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?
