Ibook g3 video conflict

In my Ibook (g3 "dual usb" 500mhz 128 mb and "ati rage mobility agp x2 8mb") I
attempted to intall ubuntu... the screens were all over the place, which I had
figured wasnt going to be an issue, so i installed it successfully,but the
proportions we all completely off. I used sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and
go it to at least fit the screen, but there is a strange bermuda triangle if you
will in the middle in which it shows other parts of the screen in two bars,
making usage and visibility in these areas impossible. I think it is because of
the card, because i have changes the resolution, refresh rate, and all that. the
baers measure about 1 1/2 inches total with opne being 1/3 the size ofr the
other with about a 3/4 inch space between. one side of each is "wavy" and move
upward in a scallop shape. HELP!
