Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

On opening my word processing work today, I find strange oblong shaped images in between some words. It is impossible to delete them, and the spacing is locked by the images. I have deleted the whole passage, and on repeating my lines, they are still there, although my move to the next word.

Because this is an old machine, I close all other programs, when working on word processing. It is possible that I need to logout, clear the buffers, and then log back in again, which I shall do. However, I do with to know how to delete these oblong imagine.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help make Ubuntu better, unfortunately there is not enough information for me to attempt to recreate this occurrence, would you perhaps be able to attach the offending document (or cause a non-sensitive document to trigger this bug) so I can attempt to recreate and hopefully confirm this bug.

Thank you Neil,

I shall be moving the document from my Linux machine to this Windows one
shortly, via Google Docs, and will take a look again then. It might be
possible to copy and paste the offending piece.

The impression I have is that this is not a bug, but probably a bufffer
problem with an old machine. It has dumped strange things (email copy
and paste material) in the document, from time to time. I now restart
the machine, before beginning work with Open Office, hoping that will
clear all buffers.
I use both Evolution and Thunderbird on that machine.

Robert Francis.
