Intrepid: Ark fails to unrar big files completely

Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex. Fresh installation. Last updated 11.09.2008, ca. 20:20 CET.

Ark fails to unrar a RAR archive with files bigger than 100 MB completely. The bigger the file, the more likely unraring will fail, though at 100 MB it's next to 100%. The files are the created with a size smaller than 100MB.

Ark does not give any error message (or any message at all). Unraring the archive from the command line with unrar will succeed.

I can confirm this problem with 8.10 and unrar unfree.

Don't know if this is redundant, but same problem here with multiple rar archives (r00,r01 etc). upgraded from 8.04.
if I use the command rar -e it works fine.
