Enabling Appearance: For Transparency causes huge CPU spikes

Bug Description

The new (KDE 3.5) option in Configure Panel > Taskbar > Appearance > For
Transparency outlines taskbar items to make them easier to read. However, if I
select this option, when mousing over a taskbar item my CPU goes to 100% usage.
The other options, "Elegant" and "Classic", leave my CPU at 1%-2%.

I can have the taskbar transparent with no CPU issues at all; it's only when
using the new "For Transparency" option in KDE 3.5 that issues occur.

I can't reproduce this. We're up a couple of versions since this bug report - is this still a problem?

I can show you CPU graphs or whatnot, but I can easily get it up to 100% just by hovering my cursor over a couple taskbar items. I'm not running a skimpy machine here... 1.7 GHz Pentium M / 512MB RAM / 64MB ATI Radeon 9000 (using the non-free drivers so I do have hardware acceleration).

This was a year ago, and we've had a few kde versions since then.

Is this still a problem?

No idea, Hobbsee. I haven't had Ubuntu on that machine for ages.
