Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubiquity
1. Start the installer. (To see the whole problem, start it from a computer that already has a few operating systems installed.)
2. Advance to the "Prepare disk space" stage.
What you see: something like
* "Guided - resize SCSI3 (0,0,0), partition #3 (sda) and use freed space"
* "Guided - use entire disk"
* "Guided - use the largest continuous free space"
* "Manual"
For all the options except "Manual", there are no subsequent steps in which either you guide the partitioner or the partitioner guides you. Therefore, describing them as "Guided" is nonsense.
What you should see:
* "Resize SCSI3 (0,0,0), partition #3 (sda) and use freed space"
* "Use the entire disk"
* "Use the largest continuous free space"
* "I want to set up a different partition arrangement"
Fixing either bug 131084 or bug 173954 would be sufficient, but not necessary, to fix this bug. They are about more extensive string and logic changes. This bug is only about the incorrect strings.
Yes. This comes from d-i, where you have the opportunity to edit the results of automatic partitioning and (in expert mode) to select from a few automatic partitioning profiles. Actually, I think we should make this more genuinely guided in Ubiquity too rather than fixing the strings, namely by making it possible to edit the results of automatic partitioning.
